south korea's comeback
After the Korean War "ended," North and South Korea alike were devastated by poverty and starvation. Eventually, South Korea recovered from the war. South Korea became one of the world's leaders in electronic devices and automobiles through Samsung, LG, Hyundi, and Kia. This is all because of UN soldiers defending South Korea from North Korean invaders. Now, South Korea's economy has skyrocketed and is a major source of the world's electronics.
the fall of North Korea's economy
Unlike South Korea, North Korea has not recovered at all since the Korean War ended. The only aspect in which North Korea has recovered from the war is its military loss. Now, North Korea's army is doing nothing but expanding as much as possible. An increase in military arming of nuclear weapons has been the agenda in these present days. Otherwise, North Korea's economy has collapsed and there is rampant starvation among its citizens. There was also a change in leadership as North Korea's current leader is Kim Jong Un, taking the place of his father, Kim Jong Il, after he died. Kim Jong Un has decided to make an official truce with the government of South Korea.
The 38th parallel
After the Korean War ended, the 38th Parallel was established as a DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). The 38th Parallel is shown as a dirt path over grass as well as a memorial of the people that died during The Battle of the 38th Parallel. The memorial is shown as an obsidian wall with the names of everyone who died during the Korean War. Even the names of the Chinese, Russian, and United States soldiers who had fought during the war were memorized on the black wall.
